Ongoing engineering
A senior team for the product you already have.
Ongoing software development for your startup: new features, tests, monitoring and speed, sprint by sprint, on the code you have. You see every sprint’s work before you pay.
What we take on
What ongoing development can include.
New features
Built on the code you have, without breaking what works.
Tests
On the paths that touch money and data first.
Monitoring
Error alerts that reach a person, before your users do.
Speed
The slowest pages and requests, measured and fixed.
Maintenance
Updates and security patches, so the app doesn’t rot.
How a sprint runs
Every sprint, the same four steps.
- Step 1
Scope
Every task, its hours and the total, agreed before we start.
- Step 2
Build
On a preview, with code in your repository every day.
- Step 3
You check
Nothing ships without your OK.
- Step 4
Invoice
After you’ve seen the work, with a written handover note.
One developer
The same senior developer, sprint after sprint.
No handoffs to juniors, no account managers. The developer who learns your code keeps working on it.
How you pay
You see the work. Then you pay.
- Scope
- Free, before any work. Every task, its hours and the total.
- Rate
- Your choice: $60/hr, or a fixed price per sprint.
- Invoices
- Your choice: weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
- Upfront
- Nothing. You only pay for work you've seen.
How many invoices does a 12-week project get?
The audit invoice, then 6 bi-weekly invoices.
Questions
Before you get in touch
Do I need an audit first?
If we didn’t build or audit the app, we usually start with one, so the first sprint fixes what matters most.
Hourly or fixed?
Your choice: $60/hr, or a fixed price per sprint set from the scope.
Who owns the code?
You do. It’s in your repository from the first commit.
How much does app maintenance cost?
Our price is $60/hr, with a time log on every invoice, or a fixed price per sprint set from a free scope document. You know the cost before work starts, and nothing is paid upfront. Your real number depends on your code and on how much you want to change each month.
What does ongoing software development include?
New features, bug fixes, tests, monitoring, security updates and faster slow pages. Each sprint starts with a plan you agree, and ends with work you can see and use. You are invoiced weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, and only for work you have already seen.
Do I need a retainer or a deposit?
No. There is no retainer, deposit or advance, ever. Work runs in sprints that match your invoice cycle. Each invoice is for work you have already seen. You choose between $60/hr and a fixed price per sprint, and a free scope document comes first.
Can you add features to an app someone else built?
Yes. If we did not build the app, we usually start with a code audit, so the first sprint fixes what matters most. After that we add features in your own repository. You keep the code from the first commit.
Who works on my product?
Mostly lead developers with 12+ years, plus senior developers with 8+, from Fortune 500 companies, working with you directly. There are no juniors and no account managers between you and the person writing the code.
